Well it was certainly an eventful weekend, the soccer team I wanted to see succeed lost pitifully, the fighter I desired to see victorious turned out to be certainly victoriously and I tried paintball for the first time.
Man am I pissed at Argentina. It seemed by most accounts that Argentina in this world cup was a force to be reckoned with, and of course they showed some rather dope ball handling skills stealing the German player's balls like sticking a razor through a wet paper bag as well as showing of great hackey sack skills doing tricks with the ball. If only they could've gotten their shit together and focused on winning the game with team work and organization, something the German had a solid grasp of and thus completely destroyed Argentina 4-0. Live and learn I guess, and my guess is Germany will take the cup.
Brock Lesnar took on the fearsome Shane Carwin and managed to just prevail. Starting with the first round, Carwin got Lesnar on his back and started pounded from Lesnars half-guard, and Lesnar took the shots like a man in what appeared to be a strategy to wear out Carwin. To me, as an off and on again MMA fighter, this strategy is actually fairly effective, by physics, in half guard or full guard it is quite difficult though not impossible to drive your hip and body into your punches. So what ends up happening is you both end up throwing punches with little power and you exert a lot of needless energy. The strategy didn't work exactly like a charm and the ref could've stopped the fight, but at least it took away some of the vicious power Carwin possesses. So in the end, in the 2nd round Lesnar sunk in the arm triangle subbing Carwin and retaining the championship belt with humble words afterwards thanking his teammates, family and friends-what class!
Paintball was all right. Getting hit with paintballs sucked, but it was cool to get a somewhat realistic version of war-anyways, that's all for now.
